Ok I don't do this for a living and I after reading many many posts on here and altering my design a little I think I have the solution but want to make sure I'm on the right track.. I currently have on 3+acres a 150x50 pond thats over 20 years old..it leaks and is ugly..just hasn't been taken care of and with a new house going up I needed to move the very tip of it anyway...so I searched out vendors in the local area and got quotes of anywhere from $120K to 200K to build a new pond..I about croaked...so in my spare time I am becoming a pond builder... new pond is dug...125x65 and 8 1/2 - 9 foot deep...its going to be lined and I already have the liner for it..we are putting that in this weekend... I knew I wanted a bog for the filter..This won't be a koi pond...bass and bluegill probably..thats whats in the existing pond. Anyway...Looking at a Perfomance Pro AtersianPRO Low RPM AP1-130 pump for around 10,000 GPH. That would flow into a 23x17 bog with 4' Perforated pipe running up though riverrock and pea gravel. In the main pond I plan on putting the intake for the pump on one end at the bottom of the pond with a fountain floating at the top to keep the water at the bottom from becoming dead...and on the other end I will use an aerator. Question..Does my bog sound sufficient? Does the flow seem sufficient with the fountain and aerator in the pond? Have I missed anything? For the bog I was planning on using 2 20' x 4" pipes with cleanouts for the water outlets...do I need more? Your advice is appreciated guys Thanks.
