I have 38 Leyland cypress ready to plant. Average temperature is mid 80’s Any advice how to give these plants a good chance to thrive?
FLC is right but if you already have them, keeping them alive in the pots is even more labor intensive. Myself I'd dig the holes a bit bigger, mix in some peat moss to the soil and water deep with a soaker hose. Leyland Cypress are kinda hard to kill with even a modest amount of water. My mom always liked watering them in with some B1 fertilizer.

Put in irrigation at the same time.

There's a stretch by our local highway where the city recently planted probably 75-100 arbs to make a screen blocking the city public works garage. Atleast half are dead as dead can get, only been in the ground a couple months. So they got planted in spring, but the heat and drought and lack of water has smokeda bunch.
