A local school with a tight budget is once again trying to limp through another football field watering season with an ailing Rain Train Model 400. I have cannibalized two of their retired units to help them make it through the summer but I'm out of parts. Does anyone know where I could find another unit or parts new of used for a Nelson Rain Train Model 400?

No it's not a joke. I'm trying to find a unit just like the one in the picture posted by hoskm01. I only wish the one I'm working on looked that good. Seriously, if you know of a unit please leave some type of contact information so that I may reach you.

We just found in our high school soccer team shed a Rain Train 400. Best we can figure it hasn't been used for about 6-10 years. It is in great shape. BUT we can't find any instructions on it. We pretty much have figured it out...except for how to release the brakes to pull the rope out when we are setting it up. Right now we are using two people to hold the brakes open while another person pulls the rope out down the field. Not sure, one of the front brakes may be broken. Right now there are three brakes (2 back and 1 front), but it looks like maybe there should also be another front brake.

The unit should have a release pin/knob on the side of the rope drum that when it is pulled the spool itself is allowed to freewheel. Please let me know if you ever decide to sell this unit as I am looking for a Rain Train 400 either complete or for parts.
