Got mynew 727 today. Have not had a chance to try it out. Going to coat the underside of deck with anti stick coating before grass hits it.

Was wondering I did not get a deck manual with the unit. Just a tractor manual with it. Has anyone got a copy of the deck manual online??

Also whats the traction kit it refers to???

Contact your dealer about the deck manual. You are supposed to get that manual with the deck. It comes in the box that contains the deck, when it arrives at the dealers. I was a Grasshopper dealer, and every front deck machine includes a manual for whatever deck/attachment, is sold with the tractor unit.

The traction kit puts more of the deck weight on the drive wheels to help you get traction which you'll need if you point it up hill. On each side by your feet their is a lever that is spring loaded, those are hooked up to the ack of the deck.

It should be hooked up already installed. My GH's were pre 1999 so I don't know if thathas changed. Basically there was a short chain on each side hooked from the back of the deck to the spring loaded levers. They may have changed it on the new ones I had a 725.

The chain system is still used. It transfers a lot of the deck weight to a point right over the front drive wheels, thus increasing traction. This traction "kit" is standard on your machine and is hooked up when the deck is installed. There is a short "handle" that you insert into a slot on each side of the machine to release the tension on the little chains. You need this tool when you want to unhook the deck from the tractor. It should be stored in the end of the big round "tube" that goes across the rear of the deck.
