Just a FYI, check your rpms. My 850 is suppose to run at 3600 +/- 100 rpms. Decided to check them yesterday for grins and giggles and its running at 3450. I bumped it up to 3600 and its like a different mower. For some reason every Deere z trak that i have bought, the rpms were set around 100 too low. Just thought i would throw this out there, 100 rpms on the 7 Iron deck is a world of difference in cut quality on wet grass. I run my 757's with the rpms set at 3700, no load.

What's easiest/best/most affordable way to check RPM's? I think both my mowers are below where they should/could be.

Good question - I would like to check mine also.

And - are you setting the RPM with a load (deck engaged) or no load (deck not engaged)?
