the other day i was talking to a guy who works at a ford dealership and he was commenting on the new diesels. many are claiming 8 or less mpg. they say that the exhaust pipe gets EXTREMELY hot and fires have already occured when trucks were in tall grass. he says he's kind of worried but he also said dodge and chevy/gmc will have to modify their engines next go round too. any input?

This is the fire causing stuff on the Fords. As far as I know the Dodge and Chevy diesels do the burn off of carbon while moving, and get away from the flaming tail pipe action.
