Well it’s official, lawn mowing season is done. Now on to Fall property clean up then on to snow.
Fall aeration stripes. Guess the machine .
Some rock step fun while loading trucks.
Not much for the landscape world, but this new drone should be cool. In other words does anyone have any comments on Vermeer’s ctx50?
Decided the trailer needed updating, paint, racks, shelves, bench, more importantly, lights. Once the other trailer isn’t buried behind 3’ of packed snow, project #2 begins.
Well, Landscape season is in full swing amid all the crazy. Phone is ringing off the hook and we are knocking jobs out.
decided to take the plunge and demo a couple mini skid steers. I rented an mt52 in my first years and the productivity blew me away. So maybe it’s time to bring one on for good.
Managed to get a Ditch Witch sk600 and Vermeer CTX50 for a few days right off the bat the DW is the better machine. Kubota diesel, stronger arms, better balanced, bigger platform.
The DW is a great machine, let us know what you like as your demo some other units. The Toro and the Ditch witch seem to have the most love.
So far the Ditch Witch is the best I’ve tried, nice big platform, stable, miles better with a diesel not to mention fast. We backfilled our old pool with 30yards of soil and we knocked it out in 3 or so hours with both running 3’ buckets.
The Vermeer could be a lot better. Filled up twice running alongside the Ditch Witch (that still has 3/4 of a tank left) after running for 8 hours. Then again it was never a fair fight to begin with, Vermeer is running a Kohler 25 hp gas vs a 40hp kubota diesel.
One thing with the Vermeer is if any rocks get lodged behind the front idler inside the housing, you pretty much have to take the track off or at least loosen it to get anything out.
Having also rented a Bobcat mt52 previously, Bobcat’s controls I find make your hand cramp. Their platform system also isn’t the most friendly for going over bumps/curbs as you smash into the machine when it goes over and you almost become a guest on the space station when you follow suit.
Ditch Witch has been the best of the three; Easy to operate, has features the other two didn’t, nice open track design, fast and (though I’m still on the fence about it) no grease points.
We’ll see how the ‘Witch performs on a paying job Tuesday. Maybe might have to slap some NLPS decals on it .
Some more side by sides of the ‘witch vs the ‘meer. I will say I’m still on the the same tank of fuel in the witch and only filled the ‘meer up 4 times in 2 days.
