The specs and prices below are from the same dealer. Am I the only one surprised that the 27HP Kohler would cost $600.00 more than the 24HP Kawasaki ? I would actually pay more for the 24HP Kawa. What are your thoughts?

STC52V-24FX 52" Velocity Plus™ Cutter Deck, 24hp Kawasaki air-cooled engine - Price $7,999.00

STC52V-27CV 52" Velocity Plus™ Cutter Deck, 27hp Kohler air-cooled engine-Price $8,599.00

I dont think the kawi comes w/ the suspension seat. I know the Kohler does though.
kohler has hyd lifters so no required valve adjustments like the kawasaki. less likely for burnt valves.
These prices are with both mowers having the Suspension seat. I used to love Kohler engines back in the days of the Wheelhorse. Maybe they are still good but for some reason it seems most people prefer the Kawasaki but the additional price for the Kohler makes me think the Kawasaki is losing its place at the top?
I would go kawi. For the price thing it seems backwards but 3hp and price may be more marketing than cost.

Apparently it depends on what the distributor stocks. The dealers main distriutor stocks the Kawasaki's and would have to order the Kohler.

From what I have been told Kawasaki will just keep dropping the price per engine the more engines you buy. Where Kohler just has like a few different levels. Like once you buy 5000 engines or something the discounts dont get any better while Kawasaki just keeps giving better discounts the more you buy.

Probably why companies like Wright use Kawasaki exclusively and Bobcat is almost exclusively Kawasaki.

Wish I could sell those 2 machines for those prices around here...
