Could anyone tell me how long you usually wait until you start mowing newly laid sod. I have a bank that has built a new parking lot and laid sod all around it and wants me to mow it now (3 days after laying it) I wasnt sure if I should yet.

    Thanks, James McKay

I usually wait a couple to three weeks. Walk it first (if you can) to see how mushy it is underneath. When you do cut it, cuy it high with sharp blades

3 weeks....any sooner you risk pulling it back up....also use real sharp blades.

    New sod

The issue with new sod isn't the grass but rather the roots. Grab a chunk of grass blades and lift up. If the blades break and the sod stays down you can mow. Obviously slowly and carefully and with SHARP blades

If the sod starts to lift, then leave it alone or tip cut with a line trimmer.
