Just stating up a lawn service in Mich, around Livingston, north part of Washtenaw, & s.w. part of Oakland counties. I have filed my LLC, and had the GL policy from my snowplowing biz ammended to cover the mowing. And I have filled out the SS-4 for the IRS to get an EIN#, although I dont intend to have employees as of right now.

In MI do I need to figure in sales tax? as far as I know labor isn't taxable here is it? Any thing I have forgotten or that you guys would recommend for me to do? :help:

    Thanks :waving:

Sales tax only if you are selling an item to a customer, i.e. sod, plants, etc. No sales tax on labor to install, mow, trim, etc. but that may change shortly if Granholm has her way.

    Thanks Grassmechanic,

Thats what I thought, when I was working as an auto mechanic the labor wasn't taxed, only the parts. I didn't think it had changed.
