been landscaping for over 10 years...specialty is my fertilzer/weed control company but I do about 1 landscape install a month. had a number of customers wanting 6'' tall landscape border using flagstone (i guess you would call it that). I have done nothing like this and wondering where I can learn about doing the mortor and all the other small things no one thinks about. I haven't been able to find any classes locally.

look for your information online & find books to read, and then do the project. there's things you'll learn as you're going along.
Mortar is relatively easy if you read up on the subject.

a 6" tall border would call for wall stone, not flagstone. Flagstones are large irregular shaped pices of stone generally used for walkways and patios.
Take a look at local stone suppliers, and you'll get an idea of what's out there, and what would be suitable building material.

    Good luck.
