new/used bed for flatbed?

    i have a good deal on a truck i found, $1000 for an 89 with 90kmiles! anyone have any tips for what to do with a 1ton gmc pickup with the flatbed rusted out bad. can i get a new one built or put on or even used will be fine for the right price. im in michigan so if anyone has any good places around here to get this done that would help too.

    is it a drw or srw put a dump body on it if you have the money, look around maby someone is selling one, check junk yards, or if the flatbed isnt that bad fix it up

    If you are any good at welding, or have a freind that is, you can cut out the badly rusted areas and weld in sheet steel to repair it. Wire brush all of the rust off and repaint it. Could be a nice weekend project and you still turn out a good, workable truck.
