Just bought a Stihl FS 90R two days ago done lawns both days since then. I noticed that when I'm at full throttle it bounces like its at the rev limit (which it is) my question is: Is this alright to run at full throttle for full periods of time? when I use the throttle lock it sits a little below max power. The rep I bought it from said he used the lock but he said that he should probably run it at full throttle. So is it easier on the machine (make it last longer) to run at full throttle or half way.

Also I was reading the Stihl catalog and the next model up the FS 110R had "lower vibrations for improved life". Is this what it was talking about.

    Thanks for you help guys!

Its normal. It doesn't matter what model you buy from Stihl or any manufacture they all hit the governor. I took the debris shield off mine and I tend to run the string out longer; this prevents it from rapping up the RPM but voids the warranty and could lead to clutch, engine failure. BTW its a line trimmer people tend to rag on other on here for calling it a weedeater.

It is the speedometer cable in the shaft. Bring the trimmer up to speed in a smoother manor it will not shake.

We've run a FS 90R for about three years, we usually just peg the throttle, it will seem like it surges a little but that is normal. Just run it wide open throttle it is designed to run at that speed. We have used the holy heck out of ours and no issues yet. We run the Stihl Ultra mix and it usually starts on the first pull. We've worn through two heads on the machine and it's stihl going strong.
  7. 2 stroke engines like to run wide open. It won't hurt it. You would probably do more harm by not running it wide open and may could foul plugs and such if you don't.
