Afte installing new mulch, I always put down Snapshot at the rate of 150#'s per acre. I'm getting Nut Sedge sprouting up in various places. I went back with another treatment of Snapshot, but it's still too early to tell if it was effective. Anyone else having this problem? And what are you doing to remedy this situation?

Snapshot will not control existing weeds, it only controls germinating weed seeds prior to germination. Since nutsedge usually will grow from existing tubers in the soil snapshot will have no effect on the nutsedge. Spray with roundup or hand pull to control.

roundup will not control nutsedge. it would take multiple applications before yellowing the plant. by then your client would be upset about seeing the weeds. for post control apply manage. it works extremely well.

Pulling may help but with the way the roots grow you'll be pulling repeatedly.

Not sure if Manage can be legally used anywhere except in turf.
Basagran is another option. 2 apps at the low rate 10-14 da interval. My experience with RoundUp is that it burns the tops ok, but doesn't translocate down to the 'nuts'.

Nutsedge is on the Pennant pre-emergent label.

Can use any of the 3 mentioned products - Manage, Basagran, Roundup.

I have not used Manage yet. Will do next year

Basagran is Phytotoxic as will Roundup. If the temp for the day of application is 80 degrees or above.

Can try a diluted solution and repeat spray. If your applying to plant beds us a contact applicator not a pressurized sprayer of any kind.

I use one of those "funky" hand-held spreaders. I can't remember the name right now. But, the rates are 100, 150 ,and 200 pounds per acre.

MSMA will also work at a much lesser cost than manage. Remember if you are using manage to also include a spreader sticker for better results.
