I'm getting ready to do my first oil change on my eXmark 48" Metro (15hp Kaw). I'm wondering what brand and grade is best for this machine? The ownes manual for the motor lists several grades.

Not true.... for the engine any 10w 30 is fine.

the Mobil one synthetic is for the hydro pumps.

Until I can afford Amsoil by the case, I buy Royal Purple 10w30 from Napa and use Napa Gold oil filters.

My mower recommends oil changes at 100 hours but I mow in so much dirt that I can only make it about 65 to 70 between changes.

For my hydros it is RP 15w40 this time around with a Napa gold hydro filter.

We use a synthetic or a blend. It gives you a broader range of operating temperature according to the manual.

use the mobile 1 and keep extra around. then you always have extra for the pumps or motor.

Kawasaki recommends Mobile 1 Synthetic 10W 30 for the engines. If you have a hydro, which he doesn't, but if you do then it's Mobile 1 Synthetic 15W 50 for the Hydros.
