I need to do my first oil change on a kaw 25 hp engine (#FH721V). I'm wondering are Kaw oil filters the only ones that will work or do the name brand filters make them for this type of engine? I've tried to research other makes of filters for this engine but no luck. Anyone know part numbers for any other filters and where to get it?

Call NAPA to verify but it should be PN 1394 for top of the line or 21394 for 2nd line. Carquest number is 85394. Both are WIX filters.

check NAPA online as well to confirm.

I will mention this, though. I've run Fram and Sunbelt on my Kawasaki and they both cause the oil warning alarm to activate on my SuperZ after initial start-up when cool. I've switched back to Kawasaki 49065-2078's. For a couple bucks more, I get perfect oil flow in a $1000+ engine.:)

Thanks guys. Made it a lot easier for me. Since we are talking about oil stuff, I went ahead and bought a name brand 5w-30 weight oil. It calls for straight 30. Is there really any difference between the two weights and effects it may have to the engine.
