    the dual stacks are a bit over the top..... but I bet if its geared properly it would get as good mileage as civic....

    Just think how useful that would be. It is a shame we can't buy a truck from the factory now with that kind of mileage.

    way back in the day... chevy had a deisel powered chevette that was tipping 40 mpg...

    I'm pretty sure they did better than that for mileage. They couldn't maintain 55 into a headwind though, they were such pooches. They had the same motor as the Chevy LUV pickup.

    I know my route in Florida. I never needed to exceed 40....

    but it shows that as some point in time automakers had their heads screwed on properly and thought outside the box....

    They sell new diesel Rangers in other countries. I believe they are 2.2 liter. From what I have heard, it's the EPA that keeps them from selling them here.
