Hi Folks, I have a rain catchment system (~500 Gal) and would like to get an on-demand pump for it. Anyone have any info/suggestions/ideas for this? It would have to be an inline one, submersible is not an option. Thanks!

What are you going to run w/ it? If a drip system for some flower beds or something, a small 12v pump like they use on ATV spot sprayers might work, but your going to need to limit it to around 2gpm. Otherwise, if your using an irrigation timer and a pump start relay, just tailor your output to the pump you select. It better not be very big w/ only 500 gallons to flush. You could run a pair of 2gpm 12v pumps real easy and empty the thing in just over 2 hours. Get a micro switch float like Grainger sells to shut off the power and one to turn it back on again. Use a relay to make the two work together. An easy wiring job and a total cost in parts of around $300 plus the drip tube. I could make a wiring diagram and post it if this helps.
