A neighbor of mine who has 2500 acres in three surrounding counties has offered to let me use a couple acres for growing trees. I have always dreamed of doing this but didn't think that I would have a real opportunity for several years to come so I quickly declined the offer not thinking much about it. However, after thinking and realizing that this is something that I should look into, I was looking for any relevant information pertaining to the subject here.

Hi Brent,

How would you protect your interests in the section of land that will take years to grow trees? Will you create some sort of lease agreement? What if the owner sells? Where will you be?

Here is a link I found that may help you investigate this further.

Definitely have some kind of written agreement about the spot of land set down first. It would suck to grow a nice set of trees only to have the owner of the land come in and swipe them away, with nothing you can do about it.

Good Luck.

Will have legthy contract terms where I will be paying a small fee yearly then will share a % of sales when it is time to harvest, so that is already been thought of and will be covered, Thanks.

Other information?
