It's that time of year again! The time of the year when the noobs start dropping like flies (pansies). I've had 5 calls/emails this week....everyone of them stated that "our guy stopped showing up."

I only added one because I only wanna work 4 hours a day and I'm all filled up with work but still.....

It does seem to start this time of year. I figure it is one of several reasons.

The homeowner mowed while it was cooler.
The kid's consumer broke and he can not afford a new one.
    The homeowner did not pay
and the list can go one.

I'll go with the homeowner did not pay for $600, Alex. It's almost ALWAYS that.

What he said (what he didn't say)

Our guy stopped showing up (because there is dog crap everywhere)
Our guy stopped showing up (because I haven't paid the bill)
Our guy stopped showing up (because I ask for free work every week)
Our guy stopped showing up (because my son likes to mow from time to time)
Our guy stopped showing up (because I'm an a-hole)

To be fair I have also picked up some good clients in mid-season too. I am always cautious with them however.

I picked up a good one...they barely speak any English. It's awesome.

I'd prefer all my customers to be deaf, mute, and blind. That's my Xanadu.

exactly! 1.5 hours worth of work in 90 degree heat for $15.... or maybe the wally-world yardman gave out already.

We had a somewhat similar situation with a "Partner" sub contracting a mowing job. He mowed this guys lawn 6 times...and the guy claimed he did not give the thumbs up for service....thus NO PAYMENT
I see this year(the past 3 weeks we have driven by the property)there are commercial mowing lines on the turf...Probably found a company 3 to 4 dollars a week cheaper.

I do not care how long you have had your customer, most time it will be about the bottom line.

I'm one of those guys that stops showing up this time of year......when I haven't been paid for mowing at all. Just be careful, it's not always the contractor that's the problem.
