Went to a service call today to replace a n.s. fixture and this is what I found.

Really no reason for it. It was just in a landscape bed. Actually horrible light a magnaliter. very cheap construction if you ask me. I heard good things of the company who installed the system but after looking at their work today I can think differently. Daisy chained. 14 gauge cable massive voltage drop. The homeowner claimed to have gotten ripped off so they don't call him to service the system. Either way just seems way overdone for going in a landscape bed.

Although I don't use too many nightscaping things, I have noticed that their pathlights do seem to last a LONG time. I've replaced bulbs on fixtures that homeowners said were 20 years old. I have to admit I've never found a pathlight encased in concrete. It seems they overdid the mount and underdid the wire and wiring scheme. kind of like using an ushio bulb in a malibu fixture, the bulb may very well outlive the fixture !

Funny you should show a pic like that. I just had to mount a couple of spots in concrete because they are placed at a bus stop and the kids just can't help pulling them and the connecting wire out of the ground constantly. I replaced the PVC risers with galvanized pipe so they couldn't snap it off. I left a big loop of wire inside the pipe so I can easily remove the fixture later if should need to be replaced because of baseball bats or large rocks being hurled at them. You gotta love vandalising children. :nono:
