My client's lawn is mostly weeds now. I'm afraid to kill the weeds and have nothing left but soil. Before hiring me, he never fertilized the Centipede sod. And now his lawn is at least 75% weeds. I gave him a few options like fertilize or just redo the sod. But what about over seeding? Can I put down Centipede seeds to eventually push out the weeds, use herbicides later? I'm thinking I can just aerate the lawn, put down seeds, and let the Centipede grass take over. Am I right?

Hi I don't know where you live but centipede is a very durable grass with exception to chemical treatment! I had the same issue! I started treating centipede grass and lost lots of it due to service tech spraying the wrong chemical on it! I know this may be something you may not want to hear but had to replace the customer centipede grass! I also tried to aerate and seed before sodding but if this one of your client that is profitable then just replace the sod and never chemical treat again! Centipede is a grass that will choke out any weeds and many time other grasses if left alone! I hope this is helpful! Good luck!
