a customer of mine wants her yard overseeded.. she has some dead spots in her year.. when i pull up the grass.. (which was perviously sod) some areas have rocks in them and other has poor soil.. Would you just have to add new top solid and rake it in to which is already there ? Thanks

If there is that many rocks, yes. This could very well be what contributed to the dying of the sod (hard to root on rock, although, it CAN be done!). Simply figure up how much you're going to need, area and depth-wise, bring it in (or have it delivered), spead it, and rake in you seed, followed by starter fert..
