what brand does everyone use for paver retainers. I was using brick edge but I am now using sure-loc "The Beast" retainer. Does anyone use aluminum retainers? I wanted to see if there was one retainer that most on here find the best to use.

The Beast is what my supplier carries so that is what I use, but that is not to say it is the best. It is pretty thick and I like that. the stuff Depot has is not as strong.

We use 7 sack 5000 PSI concrete and butter the paver bottoms with thin set. Two reasons for that. Larger planting spcaes, and yes that 8" of gravel laid past the snap edge will detour from the plant spaces here which are very tight, and, in order to get plastic edge to work in our soils, we would need
1.5' over base beyond the snap edge.

We sell and use a lot of the Beast edging. Durable and Versatile for the paver jobs. I recommend Spiral 10" spikes, non-galvanized.

Use the Beast here also, I've been satisfied with it. My supplier also sells Stable Edge, an aluminum product, but I've never used it.
