when installing, can you just lay one pipe on top of each other if you have to cross another pipe?

It is recommended that you separate them by 2 inches with soil. They can were on each other over a period of years.

I've see contracters lay pipe right on top of each other in residential areas were there is many lines in the same trench. Except in commercial jobs were they get into pipe larger than 1 1/2 but most of these job they lay a main line so most lines don't cross.
