Cold weather has every one off to a slow start.

This year I put an add in the local paper for the first time for the months of March and April. Got two calls. Landed one new customer.

However flyer's have done better with six estimates given that has led to two new customers. Going to speak customer and go over prices on Monday. Maybe another customer.

And one referral from a common friend between us.

    Could not afford EDDM.

We're off to a very good start this season. About 30+ estimates so far.

I tried the newspaper our first season and it was by far my least successful and most expensive method of advertising. Got 1 customer. He is a good one though and we enjoy doing work for him and his wife.

Question: Do you guys do estimates even if the customer is not home? I am finding a huge difference in lead conversions depending on how the estimates are done.

I usually do in person than over the phone. Rather talk face to face. Done a few when they aren't home usually i would go by during the day and call them that night.

Only marketing that I have is in the yellow pages. The best marketing is word of mouth.
