just a quick question: can u get poison ivy repeatedly throughout the season? if u have it, and it goes away, and u have contact again soon after, can u get it again?

It's kind of like the situation you have with your mother-in-law bobby...it can come and go away and them come back and then go away again...or just stay forever it seems and never go away.

oh yes...had it last month and now I have it again...usually I get it only on my hands....unlike you BG..Me thinks we need to send you some pictures of the stuff so you learn to stay away from it. Many plants look like Poison Ivy but they aren't . Poison this year seems to be EVERYWHERE

i know what it looks like. i think i need my head examined. there was alot of it yesterday, and i sprayed it. but there were a couple plants mixed in with some tall weeds, and i weed wacked them. felt the juice hitting me on my arms and face. now my arms are itchy, poured alchohol on them. i seemed to have developed a cough overnight also. u cant get it in yur lungs like that, can u?

yes bobby u can inhale poison ivy it is more likely if u were burning it and it was in the smoke but u can get it in your mouth and throat

I'm not affected by poison ivy, around it all the time, I could rub it all over my fave and arms, and still not have a problem, lucky me!

That's exactly how a friend of my father died from it. Burning an apple tree in their fireplace that had poison ivy all over it. Fumes from the smoke got into his lungs over the course of a weekend and by the time the doctors figured out what was wrong wtih him later that week, it was too late to do anything for him.

True story...

Go to the pharmacy and have them order a product called IVY BLOCK. Its a lotion that you put on like sunscreen that puts a barrier between you and the ivy. It works real well. I keep a bottle of it in both trucks.

Also, Dawn dishwashing liquid cuts the oils from posion ivy real good. If you get around poison ivy wash with dawn every few minutes and it will keep it from getting you.

I got it too. Was shaping up some monkey grass and there was some small plants in the middle of it. I popped them with my trimmer and now I have ivy stripes on my legs. I didn't see them untill it was too late.

I had it 3 times already just this summer from some area of woods behind one of our buildings. Try Ivy block when you go thorugh it next time, it's like a film that doesn't let the oils absorb into your skin. It usually goes away within a week though b/c I usually wait til the blisters get big, then I take a neddle and pop them and put technu and my grandfathers homeade moonshine on it and it develops into a scab and heals quicker. It's worked proabbly about five time for me. And yes you can get it in your throat from burning it and so on. You can even die if it gets bad enough. I had a spot on my lip and I didn't apply anythng to it, didn't pop it or anything and it went away in a week. Good luck.
