I was wondering how many of you use NEXTEL Phones. I want to know if you think they are as useful as you thought they would be. What are your thoughts on the use of NEXTEL in the lawn business.

If you do not use them would you like to start or not?

We used to use them. They were great. The direct connect feature was very useful. Alot of builders we did work for were on there and could be reached easily too. The only reason we changed was a $370 a month savings with another cell provider. Good luck.

We personally have two nextels and we love them. We are always in constant contact. It is MUCH cheaper with direct connect. We do both Lawn Maintenance and Construction so we are constantly needing to be in touch in touch. We can easily reach each other whereever we are. Thumbs up for Nextel.
One other benefit is if we need driving directions, (in rare situatians), or telephone numbers . Nextel 411 is an indispensible

    Hope this helps.

You are right Chuck they are not the cheapest plans, but I have tried all other phone companies LITERALLY and Nextel is the BEST.
By the way what kind of phones do you guys have? We have one I1000 and one I550.

They're pretty useful if you have employees.

I don't know about prices in your area but down here they are the best that I have found.

No roaming charge, no up to next minute (after one minute they charge by the second), free alerts, which are pretty useful when you're mowing and can't hear the phone.
I'm in the share plan for which I pay $95.00 a month for both phones (that's including taxes and all the fees)

One time only had to pay about $120.00 because over the limit (500 anytime + 300 private).

Just train your employees how to use'em, use the alert feature first, not for private use, unless emergency (employees)

Some pretty good plans in my area,

$70.00 per month with free direct connect and all incoming calls, 1,000 out going minutes.

Lots of landscape installation companies use them. I've had them @ three companies. The only thing not to like is the lousy reception/call dropping problem that seems to plague them at times.

dahhh...guess I didn't read my manual all the way...is 411 like directory assistance? Love my Nextel...lately it seems alot of calls getting dropped but then I guess that happens with all cell phones
