Here's a pool job in the works. Unfortunately the homeowner downsized a lot of the plant material I wanted to use and it looks unportioned to me, but he one of those micro-managing customers. The pro landscape rendering showed my idea. The pool house is now going to be a shed :-( I'm also finishing their basement, so the guy spends money, but literally is looking over your shoulder the whole job.

Too bad you couldn't to go for a few more spruces behind the waterfall. It needs to be closed off...

I really wanted the biggest sizes to be behind the waterfall to frame it out. This all has lights as well. LED lights in the pool and waterfall that change colors. Again, He bashed my design and made a lot of changes. I explained to him the importance of height proportions especially in such a large open area, but to no avail. This is the type of guy who will say in a month or two that I was right and replace with bigger material and want me to transplant everything and have it still be under warranty. Very difficult client.

Awesome stuff. It looks so different in your third pic, I thought you were using software to add all the plants, trees and grass. Nice work. They should have taken you up on your original plant with more plants and trees.

Very nice. What type/brand of equipment are you going with? What type of plaster and color? Led, why not fiber optics?

BTW, are you using a separate pump for the water feature, or off the main pump?

The whole pool is subed out, we built the water feature, the pool company ran the waterfall off one pump. And they are fiber optic not LED, I know this b/c my worker hit the line and we had to fix it already. Talk about a bad day that day.

    School me?

I have little to no experience in landscape design, but i have a couple of questions about pic 3.

1.Why the funnel shaped bed around the walk?

2.What would be the downside of shaping the bed
to the contour of the pool deck and using the plants/trees to get the "entrance" effect you seem
    to be shooting for?

I really like your original design. Only thing I see I dont like bsdies the smaller plants is the lights in the turf area :nono: They will be torn up and pummeled within a year. Perhaps you could something a little diff like moon lighting this path.

Also check out night orbs... might be just the ticket along that waterfall if you go with just a few to add a little pizzazzz

Good advice. Besides, those look like inexpensive Intermatic/Malibu lights - here in So Cal, the stakes rot out within a few years, Make sure you keep the reciept for the lights - they won't last the warranty period.

Friends don't let friends install Malibu.
