Looking like we need to spray pre emerg a little early this year in North Alabama. Anyone in Alabama spraying yet?

What is your soil temperature?
What is your accumulation of Growing Degree Days?
How many days earlier than last year?
How many days does it take to complete your pre emergent?

Will you have to apply a second time? A third?

Try going to Greencastonline.com It gives you soil temps, weather data and pest information as they progress into the season. Its free and very informative.

Found it. Thanks Ferris. Greencast online shows a soil temp of 45 to 50, depending on how far north in Alabama you live.
It looks like Gadston is in the top third of the state so it looks like temps may be in the 50 to 55 range. Go for it.
Has anybody mowed cool season grass yet? Any greenup of poa or cool season grasses? Are any dandelions visible? Forsythia bloom?

Looks like your Growing Degree Days are about 240. I would say it is time to apply pre-emergent.

I hope your summer isn't 20 degrees above normal.

I have never seen this degree growing days before? Hows that work? Dallas is at 444 right now. We got some healthy weeds for sure.
