Preen or Barricade

Looking for something to use on a client's property that is mostly some circular tree rings approximately 5' diameter filled with crushed marble and a single Japanese maple. There are 6 of these rings total.

The client had said they would always keep the rings maintained in the past, but now they have let it get out of hand. They are getting taken over by crabgrass and chickweed now they want us to fix it.

I was thinking of pulling everything by hand then using barricade, but I've heard that it causes temporary staining. Or should I just use something like Preen? I'm mostly looking for a pre-emergent type control.

Barricade stains everything. I've been using it for a year but won't be anymore, I'm probably going to Snapshot in the beds. Not sure what I'm going to use in turf yet.

We use granular Barricade that is in our first round fert app. Love it.

People also use liquid dimension, but I don't care for it.
