anyone price out new mowers lately? new lazer z 17k, Scag 17k, gravely 16k, ferris 15k hustler 15k?????????????? Even the 32 inch ferris push mower is $3300 on sale????? It's time to not buy any new equipment for 2 years and let these companies know to get there act together. Right now World lawn and Brandley should be running adds and getting more dealships and taking a bigger share in the industry.
How can a company charge 17,000.00 for a new zero turn and yet World lawn selling there king cobra 60 for less than half that with Same engine and same hydro system?
I went to buy 5 new Lazer z 60 and was at over 80k out the door lol. No new equipment this season and I have to demo a world lawn, I may just go buy 5 of them.

Did you look at Deere? I sell the Z9 commercial series way less than 17k depending on model. Only thing that comes close is the Z970R

I had sold my 36 Jr zspray with 150 hrs for almost what I paid. 2 years old. Guy that bought it it said a new one is $18k???? It sold within 2 hours of posting it.

Prices seem to vary depending on where you're located. Saw yesterday someone was quoted $14,500 for the exact same mower I was told would be $13500 a couple weeks ago (msrp was just over $16K).

Yup. I just got cussed out last week by a potential buyer for listing my mower too high. He said, "You're part of the problem! You should sell it for considerably less!" Then he offered $1500 less than asking.

The same mower I'm buying next month, was 10K in 2020. The one I'm picking up next month is $2400 more.

The used market is certainly higher than it was. Still, I can pickup a good used mower for 1/3 of the price of new that would last for years. New prices are in fact insane.

i get the big guys marking up a bit but over double for a mower with same engine and hydros??????? Plus the rate the big companys are buying supplys has to be quite a bit lower than the small company. makes no sense at all.... In 2 years I think the S*@t gonna hit the fan like it did in 08 but way worse.

Just in the Exmark shop today. New X series here are 17,5 for a FX801 and up to almost 20K for the 37 VG EFI. They have always been way higher than JD Scag and Hustler here, but this is flat getting ridiculous with all these companies now.

just so you are aware.
Engines and hydros are not and have never been proprietary to an lawn mower.

the part of the commercial mower that is "special" which makes it a 'scag' or a 'toro' is the tractor frame, controls but mostly the DECK.

A world Lawn King cobra is a 1999 Lazer Z, if you put these things next to eachother youd be like WOW its a carbon copy.

No RnD, No development, NO marketing has gone into these things.
Will a 1999 mower bought brand new in 2023 cut grass just like 1999? YES IT WILL!
But you know how muricans love bigger better and mow improved!

Its kindalike we could all still be driving around in a VW beetle, mexico never stopped making the old beetle, they drove it (brand new models) but with no improvements since 1978...still kept churning them out ever single year,

The pricing on some of this new equipment is also creating a barrier to entry in certain categories. 6 years ago we decided to take the plunge into the big time of fert and weed control with a 50hr zspray junior for $7500. At the time I think a new one was 10.5k. A new one is now 22k. That’s some crazy stuff.

They selling them for 17K because they can. Engines are hard to come by.

I paid $8500 for my scag 52" TCII 26 HP Kawasaki end of 2019. Same mower now is $12,800 except it's no longer EFI and only 24 hp.

Toro Timemasters were $999.00 3 years back, Now $1650.

Funny things happen when you print a bunch of money and give it to people.

It's not just mowers either. Snowblower prices are through the roof too. I'm guessing most equipment is up in cost. I'm glad I bought my ztr when I did.

Look at BP's, trimmers etc......it's all gone up this year, more than in years past. At least around here anyway. Rakes, shovels etc- same. EVERYTHING is gone up due to the gov't paying people to sit on their bums and not work for far longer than was necessary, which created a shortage for everything, including raw and processed materials, and now QC is poor because the factories are hiring who they can get to build or assemble products. Some new hires are hard working people and willing to learn, but just don't have the experience yet, but it appears more are just lazy slugs that HAD to get a job once the gov't slush was cut off from them, and they don't care a wit about the quality of the work they are doing. They are just putting in time to get that check and they know complies are so desperate they probably will not get fired. My Exmark dealer told me today they have been having a heck of a time with new Exmark zero turns all the way up to the top of the line machines. Bad hydro after bad hydro has been the biggest issue. Guys spend all that money and are back within a week with the problem.

Sad thing is, I doubt very much if it will ever get a whole lot better.

My dealer here in owasso called me to ask if I’d be interested in selling the 994. He can’t keep them in stock. His price was a few hundred off what I paid for it last year. .
