Try pricing bigger equipment! Semi tractors are pretty incredible...look, it's that way across the board unfortunately. A lot of it has been the piling on...."Well, my cost has only increased 2%, but company B has raised their prices by 20%, so I'm raising mine too!!" Some analysts claim half of inflation is due to this artificial increase.

We bought 50 new semi-tractors this year and 100 new trailers...last year's tractors were a significant increase, and this year's tractors are $10,000 over that! That's a half MILLION dollar increase year over alone!! And freight rates have dropped considerably...luckily they're down over mega historic highs!! 😉

You get $20, lucky
I know right? Plenty of big outfits around me will mow, trim and edge weekly for $60-70 a month year round. Lawn Care is a race to the bottom. Always has been at least in Florida anyway. It took 8 years and a lot of firing customers but my average is $130 a month. Nine out of ten times when we get a call the first words are how much. I've got my go away pricing on point though. 😂

A little more on topic. I've owned a Bradley decent mower but you get what you pay for. Thing cut like crap in St. Augustine. Better suited for a roadway mower. Our big exmark dealer picked up bad boy last year and he's been pushing it like crazy. Perfect for the $20 a cut crowd but again you get what you pay for. There's a reason why exmark and scag cost so much. They've always been more expensive than other brands. They're worth it both in terms of cut quality and durability. When you sell they sell fast too and for a quite a bit more than others. So the value is still there. But if your target is low hanging fruit then any old zt will work.

Bought a single set of blades for my 21” Honda, a single air filter for it, air filter for my 34Z and a single oil filter. Out the door $268! That’s absolutely rediculous. Dropped my stander off for a relatively major issue with the left hand hydro good lord only knows what that’s going to run me. It was beyond my ability to fix.

Wow! I'm buying Oregon high lifts for my mowers. I get a dozen for a little over $100. Would be double that and probably a little more buying all those from a dealer. The way I look at is I'm trying to pay for my vacation not theirs. Once I buy a mower I never go back unless it's a warranty issue. I'm getting close to pulling the to pulling the trigger on a greenworks commercial Optimus z.

I’m raising prices for mows 8% this year across the board if they don’t like it I am not the company you need to be with… but here’s the funny story of the day. Customer texted back and said he felt $45 (front lawn only) was more “ fair” than the now $49 price I quoted. I reminded him his price last year was $46.50 LOL. I haven’t heard back if he drops he drops I’m trying to get out of the mow business anyway so he’s be doing me a favor.

I look, buy second hand. Low hours. Stuff is out there. Buy in the off season. Repair/and service it during that time so it’s ready to earn. I’ve never bought a new mower. Some I’ve put work/money into but never close to the cost of new

Did you buy from dealer or from online discount resources?

We are starting to get those at our dealerships. We have a CZ60 on the lot now. We have demos available, I’d like to run one for a week or so in our wet, springtime grass to see how it does.

i bought my last mower in April of 2021 for $12,000 got it for $10,000 with the rebate I was told by the dealer prices were going to go crazy over the next few years because of the democrats and Biden pushing the electric equipment. I didn't know how to take that but i see it everywhere now.
