All right, first off I got this old aftermarket Velke and as part of rebuilding it I
went ahead and replaced the two brass bushings in the back of the trailing arm.
These bushings did not want to fit, even though they are the ones I carry in stock
for my own velkes as they have always fit any of mine (and I also have more than
one brand).
To my understanding there isn't going to exist a bushing that will fit because
it's only slightly too big, and maybe if I shop around a LOT and get into metric bushings...
But after some patient grinding with both a dremel and a drill, I finally got the bushings to seat.
To get the Velke's stub up in there was another trick...
That took a hammer and some brute force and lots of liquid wrench...
But I got it in there.
It's all good, except I can't get it to turn from side to side because it's so dang tight.
I figured leave it for later, it just needs "working," but later came and it's TOO dang tight lol
Greased it up, no improvement.
Hitting it HARD with a hammer just barely budges it...
Hooking it up to the mower to try and "ride" it through only results in tire spin, even on pavement.
I'm going to try heating it up with a MAPP torch tomorrow to see what that does,
but was wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem before..?
