Hey...Im curious to see what some of you do to get new business? Do any of you offer 1/2 off the first cut with a __ cut commitment...or seasonal agreement? Or...a free first cut? If any of you have done this...has it been a good or bad experience?

Hell no. Well not up here. Very rarely have I had someone hire me because they're sick of mowing their lawn. Usually, it's because they like how it looks when it's done right. So they should pay for it. No freebies.

Every Spring, in the local paper I see tons of new start-up Lco's advertising about cutting "yards".. first of all..it's a lawn, not a yard. Many of them offer the first cut free. I should hire them for the first cut to mow my lawn, then fire them.

Don't offer free services.. you look desperate, and it's degrading to the rest of the industry.
