Normally in past years for customers that want their shrubs trimmed twice a season, we'll trim the first time in late may to june and again in August to September. For customers that want their shrubs trimmed once a season they will contact us when they want it done.

My question is, what do think about trimming shrubs for the first time during the time we do spring clean ups (April-May)?

I know the ideal time to trim a shurb will differ with the type of shurb, but we can not be out on every property at the ideal time for every shrub.

    Any info will help.

As long as the leaves are not out or budding it should be OK. The thing to avoid is cutting off areas that have had energy put into them out of the roots (finite amount of energy) and not had time to put energy back (via the leaves) into the system. Does that make sense?
