Toro Groundsmaster 455D, PTO will not stop running. Wings stop but PTO continues to run. Clutch plate gap is .025plus so is looser then spec calls for. Never had it apart before so don't know what to look for. Just flat plates so don't know why it runs now. Put a bar in the drive line and bumped the starter and it is not tight just enough to make the blades run, but dangerous. Hate to through new clutch at it if I don't really need one$$$$$$.

    Thanks for your time!

Without a model and serial number posted, I'd say the bearing in the base of the clutch is starting to lock up. It can be checked by removing the clutch and spinning the bearing by hand checking for any binding.

I had a mental lapse on this one but got it figured out now. Didn't take out the bearing on the clutch and of course that was bad and causeing the drag which made the PTO want to continue to run. Da! Had to put it down and come back to it a second time in order to see it.
