Release valves are normally on the pumps. You should have one valve on each of your 2 pumps. It is just a bolt sticking up. You will need a wrench to turn it.

If you can’t find it, take your mower by the dealer and ask them to show you were the pump release valve is. You need to know how to do this anyway just incase you ever have to push your mower.

We always carry a come-along, NOW with that being said, there is NOT always a tree around. I have pulled them out with the other mowers, and yea the truck. Mainly the wiench on the truck but if you dont have one, a chain/cable will work just fine. and NO you dont need to release the pumps.

If it 's in the mud, "only reason It should be stuck" it will slide. If you ever unscrew the release on the pumps make it 1st. in fact anything I purchase a mower I make the postition of the pump screws.

The release only needs to be snug no reason to mark it. No reason not to though. Releasing the valve gives the path of lease resistance it will turn if its easier than to slide or slide if its easier than to turn.

I normally agree with you on almost everything but this one I don't. Yes if stuck in the mud the mower will slide. Once it's out of the mud the mower is going to have the wheels locked up putting pressure on the pumps and dragging on solid turf tearing up the lawn. I don't think this will mess up the pumps on grass but not releasing the pumps will mess up the lawn.

I am still sticking with, if your solo and don't have anyone to drive the ztr, release the pumps and don't take the chance. It only take about 2 seconds to release them.

I would not pull it out with your truck. The same exact thing happened to me.

Ther should be a lever somewhere on your mower to put it into neutral.
I got my old mower stuck in really wet lawn so I just pulled it out with my truck, no problem right?

WRONG. from pulling it out the transfer case actually cracked in half believe it or not(I have pictures if you dont believe me)and would have cost me more to fix it than what the mower was worth. So i sold it for $500 for parts then used that for a down payment on a new mower

I got my mower stuck once. The customer recently had a tree removed from in front of their house, I noticed the dirt where the tree used to be (about a 3-4 foot circle), so I decided I'd just go over it instead of around. It was just dirt, no seed or anything yet, but it was apparently really soft and the back wheels of the mower sunk right in. Luckily it was close to the road, so I released the hydros, unhooked the truck/trailer and put a tow strap from the mower to the truck. It worked fine, you just have to go slow, don't jerk it around...thats when you break stuff.
