I just bought a house with a irrigation system. I haven't moved in yet but was wondering do you have to get a system unwinterized or can you just start using it. How much does it cost to get a system winterized? I think it has 6-8 zones as I saw a map of the yard with sections.

Yes you should have a professional do a spring start up , there is a proper and improper way of turning a system on. The contractor will also be able to check the whole system and do most repairs and adjustments while he is there.
