I'm having a new open utility trailer built (6' x12') for myself and the last thing i wanted was 13" tires on it, the builder say's there's nothing wrong with that size tire... concerned about stability and handling with that size.
The 13" ones just look so small and could be hauling something much heavier someday in it than just lawn care equipment.

Use 15" rims and 225 or 235 tires. 13" is just to small for that size trailer.

Yes, you want at least a 3500 lb. axle under it if you want to haul any weight, and that means at least a 205/75/15 tire. Won't hurt at all to go a little bigger.

    I agree 13 seems small.

I agree with the above comments, a 15 inch tire will give you the load carrying capacity that a trailer that size will need and more tire size choices too.

We built our trailer and run 15" aluminum wheels on it.
