Can't bust them for violating the Clean Water Act; they left an air gap! :hammerhead:

Sorry to resurrect the dead. Saw this and thought it was an interesting security idea. Not sure if I would use it. Draws the eye to the BF therefore may attract vandals.

Copper is worth more than brass .... and it doesn't do anything to protect the copper.

Unscrew the unions, twist the ball valves off the body, and you have plenty of brass and copper to take. Or, cut at ground level with a reciprocating saw, one more cut on that weird protective leg, and your gone with even more money to be had.

A good cage is the only way to go. Ultimately though even with a cage if they want it bad enough they will get it.

What are they getting for these things $7 a piece? Is the meth problem outside of New England that bad?

It's like a damn sport out here in So Cal. We have projects where for a while they would go through and entire industrial park and get 20 devices in a single weekend. They used to take the entire thing, just sawzall it off at the ground. Now they are getting lazy and they just cut the RP right at the ball valves and take the very middle portion of the thing.

I still submit that the ultimate solution is to redesign these in steel.

Any contractor who installs one of those needs to have his man card revoked!
