a manager at a large apartment complex calls me today and says " I'm very unhappy with our current Lawn Care provider and the owners will be in town in 3 weeks. If you can get my lawn Green by then I'll sign a long term contract"
I know granular urea (46-0-0) will get a quick green -up, but it will only last a few weeks. our lawns are growing good with adequate rainfall however what is my chance of burning this lawn ( the temps will climb into the low 80
by using urea (jdl has a 32-3-5 no slow release so what is the differene in nitrogen if we use 46-0-0 at 1lb of N)

Good point. I am in a hot area and the last thing that ever happens is volatilization. Now if you go spread 100 lb of urea over a dry dirt field, and do not water it yes. This is grass we are talking about, grass that has moisture or irrigation. I watch the N and source of N to prevent problems with soil pH and excessive top growth at the expense of root growth. I have walloped lawns with 2 lb of N to get it to grow. When I am doing a grow in after verticutting or a new plug or sprig job, N per month is up to 3 lb per month divided into 7 day applications. No burn problems because if the lawn does not have a correctly functioning automatic irrigation system, I am out.
