Does anyone know where I can find railroad ties in central nj?
try craigslist. There was a guy that had a whole yard of them in all conditions around here.
thanks for the help. one more question, i'm going to be building a wall against a hill in my backyard. i have an old wall there now which will be torn down. when building the new wall, should i put the railroad ties right up against the hill or leave some room between the hill and wall? thanks
Point of a wall is to increase usable space. Having it be away doesnt make much sense, but you need to build away far enough to provide proper drainage and reenforcement accomodations.
I got a truckload in North Jersey you can have for free, some not in the greatest shape but there are plenty. You have access to an excavator? We can trade, I need them dug out, you can have the ties...
thanks for the offer Inspira, but I would have to respectfully decline
Those are just 6x's, I thought he was talking about the real thing.
