ran over small tree with mower...


i am a scrub who just started out and i drove over a tree i planted for my customer and i wonder if i should tell them i did it? they'll make me pay for it if they find out, maybe they won't notice...

Richard,<br>I say go ahead and tell the customer what happened. Remember, honesty is the best policy. I'm sure that if the roles were reversed, you'd want to know what happened to your tree. In turn, the customer will see you as an honest guy, and it will make you look good in their eyes if you tell them the truth. Just remember, word gets out, and I know you want to have a good reputation for future customers. So I think replacing the tree is a small price to pay. Hey, it was only an accident, and those things happen all the time. I'm sure you'll do the right thing. There really should be no question that you have to tell the customer and replace the tree. <br>We have to be honest with the people that we work for as they are paying us to come on their property to work for them. Use this to build some goodwill between you and your customer, it will go a long way as trust isn't something you can't buy. The faster you make this right with the customer, the better. Getting a bad reputation is far more costly than one tree. Usually customers know and talk to other people who would make nice new customers. What do you want them to say when they talk about you?<p>----------<br>Lanelle<br>
