Hey y'all,
I have a 2007 husqvarna zero turn 52" deck and 24 hp kohler engine. I haven't used it since last September. I got it out this passed week and it fired up but the blades don't engage when i pull the PTO knob. I also noticed that the belt is looser than normal. What could be causing the blades not to engage? Clutch? or something else. Answers are appreciated. Have a great day and may GOD bless y'all.

Start by checking your fuses and fuse holders. Look for evidence of rodent damage, frayed wires etc in the wiring. If that checks out, get a wiring schematic and a test light and start digging in. You will find the cause.

Could be a safety switch too

Tighten the belt, and does it click at all (clutch itself)? With the belt loose enough there is no 'catch' so the clutch maybe engaging with nothing to engage with. Also is there power to the clutch (what the other gents said)?

Look, sit on the mower, release brake, turn key on, but don't start.
Operate the PTO switch, ya should hear a click coming from the clutch.
No click, ya got an electrical problem. If it clicks, then ya gots a problem with the belt, more than likely the belt idler frozen or jammed.

I just checked the PTO does click when i turn the switch. SO once I tighten the belt I should be good right?

Also one other thing, its seems that during the winter it is a bear to start, two weeks ago i had to put engine starting fluid in it to start the mower. Would the cold weather cause that to? or is starter or electrical system gone haywire.?
