    Murray Inc. Announce Recall of Lawn Mowers and Lawn Tractors

    The following product safety recall was conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.

    Name of product: Murray lawn mowers, lawn tractors and garden tractors Units: About 8,000
    Manufacturer: Murray, Inc., of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

    Hazard: Plastic components on these lawn mowers and lawn tractors can crack if they are struck by an object thrown from the blade. Objects can be ejected from the mower unexpectedly and could hit nearby consumers.
    Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

    Description: The recall includes certain 20-, 21-, and 22-inch walk-behind lawn mowers; certain 30-inch mid-engine riding lawn mowers; certain 38-, 40-, 42-, and 46-inch lawn tractors; and certain 46-inch garden tractors. They are red, black or gray. 'Murray' is written on the body of the mowers. The model number can be found on the unit's nameplate located under the seat of the lawn tractors and at the rear of the mower housing on the walk-behind mowers. The following model numbers are included in recall:




    Sold at: Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Northern Tool nationwide from November 2003 through February 2004. The walk-behind mowers sold for between $99 and $368. The riding mowers sold for between $758 and $1,748. Manufactured in: United States.

    Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled lawn equipment immediately and contact a Murray Service Center with the model number and date of manufacture (found on the nameplate) for a free repair.

    i have one of these to, from one of my customers, has a new engine but all the wiring is messed so they gave it to me, it's in my boneyard, i kept it for the engine, i wouldnt even bother (junk) i just wanted the motor. the plastic is the deck graud that projects things downward instead of straight out.
