We purchased 12.5 acres that has over 50 live oak trees that were planted in 4 rows fifty years ago. My equipment arsenal consists of a 48" Exmark with 19 HP Kawasaki and a Kubota L3540 with 72" Land Pride bush hog that has 29HP at PTO.

What would be your choice to mow the grass on this property as quickly as possible? Some guys have told me a 72" ZTR would be the way to go. Should I go larger? Should I go gas or diesel?

It's pretty bumpy around the trees but I plan to add dirt to smooth it out.

Assuming not a lot is growing under those oaks a 72" ztr probably wouldn't be any faster than the land pride if it is a finish mower rather than a rough mower. The more complicated the mowing layout the more favored the ztr would be.
