I have a Red Max trimmer that is only two years old and is only used for home use. this year has been very frustrating in that it will "eat" the line.
when i pull the spool, it's like the orange line is glued to the spool. took it to dealer and put new metal pieces (where line advances). also bought new spool of line 095 thinking that may help.
the spool looks a little nicked and the dealer smooted the nicked places but all this has not helped.
it happens the most when I have the trimmer on its side doing edging.
    any help would be appreciated.

It's a trimmer, not an edger. (I can feel the flames now.)

If you run the trimmer on the ground, the extra heat from friction causes the line to melt, causing the sticking.

makes sense. however, it did not do this when it was new.
I use Diamond Edge, Commercial Grade, .095" line. Is there another I should be using?
Also, is this problem unique to the RedMax? I see a lot of guys who do a lot of edging who don't seem to have this problem. And they are doing it 10-15 times a day.
    Thanks for information.

They just dont edge enough (or want to buy) a dedicated edger. I'm sure they run into the problem, too.
