I got a 4000sq.ft. lawn to reseed. I'm not going to kill the grass, just cut it down low, seed, fertilize, and just enough top dressing to cover the seeds, then water 2 times a day for 2 weeks. I'm in Southern Ontario, where our droughts aren't too bad. Should I take this job or leave it and I take how much would you charge? Appreciate it.

Sounds like a good job to do. $100.

The risk for reseeding is low, bit higher with fertilizer.

fertilizer will make the grass that's there to grow fast and could shade out the seedlings that's the risk.

Over seed then wait for 2 weeks then fertilize

    Or...
Use a starter fertilizer, designed specifically for the task at hand.

......and don't use any kind of fert with any type of weed killer in it. It'll kill new seedlings too.

Too much water when the ground/air temperature is less than optimal germination is not a good idea...

Without a doubt the best answer so far.

The primary isse here,,, is germination... fertilizer has nothing to do with germination...

Correct temp, moisture, and even light determine germination,,, NOT fertilizer... :)
