Move the throttle control from idle to fast and watch which way the arm is moving the shaft, With the throttle at wide open speed loosen the pinch screw on the arm and with a pair of pliers rotate the shaft in the same direction until it stops and retighten the screw. Now there isn't much movement on this shaft and you only want to apply a slight pressure when rotating and hold the pressure while tightening the pinch screw.
